Description
English: These fossils are of extent freshwater fish dating back 200 million years and preserved in sandstone from the upper Triassic period. The thick rhombic-shaped scales of these specimen, found in the Ficksburg area, are very characteristic. The colour of the fossils is probably due more to the environment in which they formed and the chemicals they have been exposed to during the fossilization process than to the actual colour of the fish when they were alive
