Description Captain Iven Carl Kincheloe, Jr. in November 1956 following his famous Bell X-2 flight. Kincheloe, the personification of the "born pilot," went from flying model airplanes at age 5 to soloing on his 16th birthday to becoming America's "first spaceman."
