Description

Voormalige Korenbeurs aan de Vismarkt te Groningen. Behind it the tower of The Aa Church.

De eerste Korenbeurs, een houten gebouw, werd gebouwd in 1774. In 1826 werd het vervangen door een stenen gebouw. Het gebouw is een ontwerp van architect J.G. van Beusekom, Op het dak staan de figuren van Neptunus (zeevaart), Ceres (landbouw) en Mercurius (handel). De Korenbeurs is aan het einde van de twintigste eeuw gerestaureerd onder leiding van architect Cor Kalsbeek. Men zoekt naar een definitieve bestemming voor het gebouw. Op dit moment is er een filiaal van Albert Heijn gevestigd.

Former Grain Market. The first (wooden) edition was built in 1774. In 1826 it was replaced by a brick building. It is designed by architect J.G. van Beusekom. On the roof are sculptures of Neptune, Ceres and Mercury. At the end of the 20th century the building has been restored by architect Cor Kalsbeek. Today it is in use as a grocery shop.
