Shqip: Stambolli, i njohur ndërkombëtarisht si İstanbul, është qyteti dhe porti më i madh i Turqisë. Është qendra kryesore kulturore, ekonomike dhe industriale në vendë. Me një popullsi prej rreth 14,8 milion banorë, është një nga qytetet më të populluara në botë.

Română: Istanbul, numit în antichitatea greacă Byzantion, apoi, după anul 330 d.Hr., Constantinopol — în greacă Κωνσταντινούπολις, a fost capitală a Imperiului Roman, pentru două scurte perioade dintre anii 324-395, a Imperiului Roman de Răsărit, denumit și Imperiul Bizantin de istoriografia umanistă, între 395-1204, a Imperiului latin din Orient, între 1204-1261, apoi din nou a Imperiul Bizantin refăcut, între 1261-1453 și a Imperiului Otoman până la proclamarea Republicii Turcia, la 13 octombrie 1923.
