Summary
[edit]{{Information | Description = One of several hundred demonstrators in central London protesting against Israel's assault on Gaza, Israeli Apartheid (if one accepts the conclusion of Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch that Israel is an Apartheid state), Israel's treatment of Palestinians generally and the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestinian land. She holds a placard with the words 'This is a European Colonial Legacy,' referring possibly to the treatment of indigenous populations generally by imperial powers, or possibly specifically to the British treatment of Palestinians between 1917 and 1948, during which forms of collective punishment measures, such as the demolition of entire villages or urban neighbourhoods, were used against the Arab population. As I (the photographer) didn't ask her to explain the precise meaning of the placard in the context of the protest, I should stress that the above commentary is strictly my own interpretation.
