Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Buskers performing as Irozi, the Romanian nativity play, at Christmas 1892; depicted are all elements of a troupe (tacâm): Herod, two of the Three Magi (Caspar and Melchior), and a "black man" (harap), alongside two soldiers and a shepherd. As noted by Teodor Burada, who commissioned the engraving to an unknown artist, this was one of the last shows of its kind ever performed in Moldavia (see Burada, pp. 9–26).
