Summary
[edit]DescriptionIronmonger Street, Stamford - geograph.org.uk - 487487.jpg |
English: Ironmonger Street, Stamford Stamford is one of the most complete Georgian towns in England. It was on the coaching route north, but was bypassed by the coming of the railway. Ironmonger Street is a significant north-south link between the main streets of Broad Street and High Street.
At the bottom is St Michael's church. This is from the 12th century but with many alterations over the years. It is no longer used as a church, being closed in 1962 and now used for shops and offices. There is more information here http://www.stamfordchurches.co.uk/st-michaels.shtml |
