Title
Iron age brooch; penannular brooch with rolled terminals
Description
English: Iron age brooch; cast copper alloy penannular brooch of late Iron Age or early Roman date. The brooch is formed of a strip of metal, of circular cross-section, which is curled round to form a sub-circular loop. The ends are flattened and then curled back on themselves to give rolled terminals. The pin is still present and is formed of a tapering bar of circular cross-section. It too is flattened at the end and this section is then curled around the main bar of the brooch. The pin is therefore freely movable and not fixed in position. The whole has a grey-green patina with patchy spots of powdery corrosion.

Length (side to side) 32.9mm, width (top to bottom, inc pin) 34.8mm, thickness (band) 2.9mm, thinckness (rolled terminals) 4.4mm, weight 6.55g
