Summary
[edit]DescriptionIron Kiln Hole (Notts Pot 2 ) Entrance - geograph.org.uk - 1188437.jpg |
English: Iron Kiln Hole (Notts Pot 2 ) Entrance Alison Adams, Swaledale Outdoor Club, climbing out of Iron Kiln Hole, a dug entrance to Notts Pot 2 on Leck Fell. The dig was originally called Committee Pot, a confusing choice, since another and old Committee Pot lies not far away at the top of Masongill Lane. The dig was worked on and off for twelve years and quite actively for the last five before the breakthrough in late November 2000. After stabilisation work and installation of tackle, a series of fixed ladder descents inside the entrance leads to Mincemeat Aven (which had been climbed from below in 1988) at the end of Inlet 13 off the Notts 2 streamway, first reached by the Northern Pennine Club diving the terminal sump for 210m in Notts Pot in 1987. |
