Title
Iron Age to early Roman button and loop fastener
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy late Iron Age to early Roman button and loop fastener, dating from c.50 BC to 50 AD, Wild Class I. The fastener has a double disc head, both discs are inset, possibly to contain enamel. There is a circular hole or rivet in one of the discs. The other disc is worn and broken, and only a third of it survives. Projecting from the reverse of the discs is a heavy ring-loop, which is triangular in shape, and sits parallel to the discs. The fastener has a dark red brown patina, and measures 21.7mm in length, 17.3mm in width, 9.6mm in thickness, and weighs 5.18g.
