Iron Age terret ring
Description
English: A complete copper alloy Iron Age terret ring. The ring consists of an oval hoop which is D shaped in cross section and flat on the reverse. The hoop measures 5.9mm in width and 3.8mm in thickness. The inside of the hoop is bevelled. On one side of the hoop there are two raised collars or projections enclosing a narrowed and thinned part of the hoop. There are incised lines or grooves suggesting wear on this part of the ring. The collars are sub triangular shaped and do not project to the reverse side, they measure 6.2mm in height. There is no decoration on the terret ring, and it has a dark green patina. The terret ring measures 26.3mm by 25.1mm, and weighs 8.98g.
