Iron Age coin: unit or potin of the Suessiones tribe
Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy Iron Age Gallo-Belgic (Belgium and northeast France) unit or potin of the Suessiones tribe (north-east of Paris). Cottam et al.'s 'Soissons Eye Boar' type dating from c.60 - 20 BC (ABC 85). The potin is in very good condition and shows very little wear. This is listed as an extremely rare coin for Britain, but are more common on the Continent. 

 This is the only type of potin for which we have recorded a die matrix see SUR-08FD05.
