Iron Age brooch fragment
Description
English: An early - mid Iron Age copper alloy fragment of a brooch (800-200BC). The fragment is penannular and constructed from a curved rod forming an incomplete oval. It is decorated on the front surface with ribbing - parallel transverse incised lines; the reverse is undecorated. One end is slightly expanded and flattened. The other end is roughened ?a broken surface. A very dark green, even patina. Identified by Dr JD Hill, British Museum. Dr Hill found a parallel in the Morel Catalogue from a grave in the Champagne District.
Dimensions: length: 26.01mm; width: 23.11mm; thickness: 2.80mm; weight: 3.28g.  Identified by Dr JD Hill, British Museum.  Dr Hill found a parallel in the Morel Catalogue from a grave in the Champagne District.
