Title
Iron Age brooch; La Tene III style brooch
Description
English: Iron Age brooch; cast copper alloy La Tene III style brooch of the late Iron Age (1st century BC or early 1st century AD). The brooch has a large, prominent pin spring, with the stubby remains of the pin itself extending from the back. The head of the brooch extends forwards horizontally from the last curl of the pin spring. It is moulded with tiny, flat protrusions to either side, reminiscent of vestigial wings. The bow curved downwards at a roughly right angle and is a long, simple, tapering strip which comes to a point at the foot. There are traces of the position of the catchplate on the back of the foot. The bow is quite delicate and has been bent backwards towards the foot.

Length 43.3mm, width 14.6mm, thickness 19.3mm, weight 4.64g
