Title
Iron Age Razer
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy Early Iron Age trapezoidal 'Hallstatt' razor of Jockenhövel's 'Flörsheim' type dating from c.800-600 BC. The razor is sub-triangular or trapezoidal in shape with openwork decoration, and has a single curved cutting edge. The razor has a circular attachment loop, below this are two curved bars, one on which projects beyond the loop. At the opposite edge the bars end in a worn break. The top bar is rounded in cross section underneath the loop, and narrows to rectangular in cross section. The lower bar is rectangular in cross section, and is the same thickness as the blade. Below the bars are two triangular perforations, the blade of the razor widens out at this point into the curved cutting edge, this projects out past the main body of the razor on both sides. The razor is slightly bowed in profile.

The razor has a light to mid green patina, and measures 29.2mm in length, 28.1mm in width, 3.9mm at maximum thickness, and weighs 5.84g.
