Description

Interior view here on the website of this very smart operator, whose fleet details are here. The origins of the firm is with Trevor Thorn , I believe (need to check up) who ,I think, traded as TR Thorn of Rayleigh c 1971. I vaguely remember an R226 - Viceroy. There is a fascinating page here about Trevor Thorn,touching on his coach business, who is a long standing member of the Salvation Army Hadleigh Temple Fascinating. Peter Thorn is the P in APT Travel. I guess there is a family connection. Perhaps somone can advise. Thorns of Rayleigh Ltd.is registered in Benfleet with operating centre in Rayleigh. The early fleet of APT Travel of Benfleet included VEA 680, Bedford SB3 (petrol) - Duple, ex RAH Snow, Cheldon Coaches of Great Wakering and URO 924E a Bedford VAM - Plaxton. Subsequent vehicles then were KUK235K (R226 - Plaxton) and VYH495M, YRT-Plaxton which ran in Sussex into the early 90s at Upper Dicker.

TR Thorn mainly bought vehicles new, including AHK110L
