Summary
[edit]DescriptionIrish M1 under construction - geograph.org.uk - 443792.jpg |
English: Irish M1 under construction The M1 (Irish Republic) runs from Dublin to Dundalk; whilst the M1 (Northern Ireland) runs from Belfast to Lisburn with the A1 dual carriageway extending southwards to Newry. The N1 in the gap between Dundalk and Newry is a singularly unpleasant length of single carriageway. A new section of motorway seen here is currently under construction on the Republic side of the border (there are no plans to replace the Northern Ireland section with motorway). Wikipedia N1_road quotes the completion of this length as second quarter of 2007, but judging from this photo that somehow seems unlikely. |
