English: An Iraqi surface to air missile (SAM) system in northern Baghdad, Iraq, on April 13, 2003. Soldiers from the 422nd Civil Affairs Battalion were in the area to meet with Iraqi engineers that work and live at a nearby power substation in an attempt to restore power in Baghdad. The 422nd is deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the people of Iraq, eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein. |
