English: JNCE_2024034_58C00026_V01
Capture time: 2024-02-03 17:51:03 UT Height above surface: 3852.4 km True color image of Io from the PJ58 flyby. The dark side is lit by a very bright Jupiter-shine and basaltic surfaces, especially Loki Patera show strong specular reflections. A small plume can be seen in the lower right. The image was assembled from the raw framelets using a custom python script for calibration and PTGui for stitching. The colors were calibrated to sRGB with the CIE1931 color system using the spectral sensitivities of the JunoCam instrument and various reference spectra from the Jovian system, including spectra from Karkoschka (1994), Sromovsky (2017) and an Io surface model from Hapke (1989). The color calibration was computed with DCamProf. The calibration was able to correct the colors to within a dE of 2 using the pre launch spectral sensitivities of JunoCam. It's possible these sensitivities have significantly changed during the mission because of radiation, I accounted for this by adjusting the white balance of the image, however, some effects may not have been accurately corrected.
