| Description |
Inyo cutleaf, Hymenopappus filifolius var. nanus, California, White Mountains, Westgard Pass, Cedar Flat, Owens Valley watershed, elevation 2234 m (7330 ft). Hymenopappus filifolius is widespread through interior western North America, but this variety is more narrowly restricted to the Great Basin of Nevada, western Utah, and adjacent areas, reaching its western limit here in the White Mountains. It is found mainly on open rocky calcareous soils in the sagebrush and pinyon-juniper zones, and is a cousin of the sagebrushes so ubiquitous in this region. |
