Deutsch: Südlicher Inyltschek-Gletscher und Merzbacher-See im Tian Shan. Der Merzbacher-See ist ein Eisstausee. Er ist für seine jährlichen Ausbrüche bekannt. Das Foto zeigt den See nach seiner Entleerung, bei der er ein Chaos aus Eisbergen auf seinem Grund hinterlässt. Der Name des Sees erinnert an den deutschen Geografen, Asienforscher und Alpinisten Gottfried Merzbacher, der den Tian Shan in den Jahren 1902 und 1903 bereiste und als erster auf der Suche nach dem legendären Berg Khan Tengri den Inyltschek emporstieg. Für ihn stellte der See ein unüberwindbares Hindernis beim Aufstieg ins Tal des nördlichen Inyltschek dar.
