Description

Inuit made seal fur-carpet

Decke. Eskimoarbeit, aus Stücken des gewöhnlichen Seehundes. Zwischen die Verbindungsnähte sind ausgezackte Streifen aus buntgefäbtem Seehundleder eingefügt, aus welchem auch die aufgesetzten Sterne und Anker sind. Alle Nähte sind mittels Tiersehnen ausgeführt.

Couverture. Travail esquimau, fait avec des morceaux de phoque ordinaire. D'etroites bandes de cuir, découpées et colorées en jaune ou rouge, sont prises entre chaque couture. Les étoiles et les ancres sont également en cuir et cousues sur la couverture. Toute les coutures sont faites avec des nerfs d'animaux.

Cover. Executed by Eskimoes. Made of common seal. Between the connecting seams have been entered, intented stripes of coloured Seal leather, the stars and the anchor being also made of seal leather. All seams are of animal nerfs.
