Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Intrusive contact zone Approaching the summit ridge of Tal y Fan, a prominent feature marks the lower contact zone of the thick, dolerite intrusion. Here, rocks of the Ordovician Capel Curig Volcanic Formation are seen to be cleaved mudstones and tuffs which appear to have been baked and indurated by the overlying sill-like intrusion. The toughened rocks make a resistant zone which stands out like a wall from the grassy slope.
