r asto rapidly adapt itself to the ever changing shape of the abdomen, youwill not fail to appreciate the advantages of a bandage such as I heredemonstrate to you. This bandage was described by H. B. Semmelinkof Holland in Zentralblatt fuer Gynaekologie, 1905, No. 52. It con-sists of two pieces of linen, muslin, or flannel, which have been sewedtogether in the median line. The inner piece extending from the costalarch to the pubic bone is tightly pinned over the abdomen. The outerpiece extends from the costal arch to the middle of the thighs. It istorn into a number of tails which have been overcast in order to pre-vent their tearing any further when the tails are tied over the inner band-age. I have used this bandage in all my private cases for almost threeyears and have been uniformly pleased with the results. The bandagethus applied closely follows the outlines of the body. It can not slipnor wrinkle in the back. It gives a pleasant feeling of support. It INTERSTATE MEDICAL JOURNAL

Whenever the bandagebecomes loose, we simply retie some of the tails. I usually apply thisbandage one or two hours after confinement when the danger of atonyhas passed, and the uterus needs no longer be controlled. The bandageis worn day and night as long as the patient is in bed, and is takenoff only during physical exercises, of wrhich I shall speak presently. Forurination and defecation the lower part of the outer bandage must beloosened and turned upward. This requires a little more time thanwith an ordinary binder, but after all a bandage is employed not for theconvenience of a nurse, but for the benefit of the patient. The ad-vantages of this bandage are obvious. It fits tightly and comfortably.It is a simple device and readily applied with a little practice. The ma-terial
