Transcripción de la ficha: "Esta obra de Carlos López es la única en su género que documenta el interior de un obraje novohispano. Dominada por el telar que articula geométricamente la composición, la imagen da cuenta de la organización gremial en la fabricación de tela, proceso que en estas tierras comenzó hacia 1526.

La labor del tejedor, de su ayudante y del hilandero está supervisada por el patrón vestido de azul: podría tratarse de Miguel Prieto, quien encargó el exvoto, obra generalmente realizada como agradecimiento. Protector de los comerciantes, san Miguel Arcángel con la frase Quis ut Deus [¿Quién como Dios?] presenta la escena; a su lado, simbolizado por una paloma, el Espiritu Santo custodia el taller gremial."
