Summary
[edit]DescriptionInterchange at Limerick Junction - geograph.org.uk - 1005426.jpg |
English: Interchange at Limerick Junction One of the most complex stations operationally on Irish Railways (CIE) at the time photographed, Limerick Junction was a classic country junction. Operations are now (2008) are considerably more streamlined and the rolling stock much more modern. In the photo, a train from Limerick to Waterford has run past the station buildings to reverse into the bay platform on the left, providing a connection into the Dublin-Cork train on the right. To continue its journey, the Waterford train will leave Limerick Junction by moving ahead to clear the point by which I am standing, back up past the station buildings a second time and then change direction a third and final time before crossing the main Dublin-Cork lines and going on its way. |
