Description
  1. ThrowbackThursday to this #aerial shot of the Johnston Atoll

Located 800 miles southwest of #Hawaii and the first of the U.S. sites to complete its chemical weapons disposal mission, #JACADS represents a major milestone in the U.S. Chemical Stockpile Demilitarization Program history. During a 14-year period, more than 4 million pounds of nerve agents GB and VX, and blister agent HD, were safely destroyed. Chemical agents contained in 412,798 munitions, including projectiles, rockets, bombs and ton containers, were eliminated, reducing the overall U.S. stockpile by 6 percent.
