Summary

Description

Nearly 160 youngsters spent April 23, 2015, at the National Science Foundation where they participated in the agency’s Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. The morning program included talks about the importance of science, NSF’s role, robotics and patterns in nature. One of the highlights was a live chat with personnel at Palmer Station in Antarctica. The afternoon was devoted to hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) educational activities. Children engaged in shake table testing, zip line adventures, science and drawing, live data collection (as shown in the photo), microwaving substances, exploring water filtration, DNA bracelet making and more.
