Description
English: Marine barracks on the Oostplein. Inspection, in the courtyard, of the detachment of marines with second lieutenant of the marines P.J. van Gijn (left) before leaving for Curaçao. Behind Van Gijn is the section commander Van Brummelen. Front row right, Marine Boonstra with Marine Scot next to him. Middle row on the right, Marine Stols. In the back row on the right, Marine Chestnut. The Marines went to Curaçao in connection with the raid of Venezuelan revolutionaries led by the self-proclaimed 'General R.S. Urbina 'on the' Waterfort '. The trip was from Rotterdam to Hoek van Holland with Hr.Ms. Frans Naerebout and hence with Hr.Ms. Kortenaer to Willemstad Curaçao. Year: 1929.
Nederlands: Marinierskazerne aan het Oostplein. Inspectie, op de binnenplaats, van het detachement mariniers met tweede luitenant der mariniers P.J. van Gijn (links) vóór het vertrek naar Curaçao. Achter Van Gijn staat de sectiecommandant Van Brummelen. Voorste rij rechts, marinier Boonstra met naast hem marinier Schot. Middelste rij rechts,marinier Stols. Op de achterste rij rechts, marinier Kastanje. De mariniers gingen naar Curaçao in verband met de overval van Venezolaanse revolutionairen onder leiding van de zelfbenoemde 'generaal R.S. Urbina' op het 'Waterfort'. De reis was van Rotterdam naar Hoek van Holland met Hr.Ms. Frans Naerebout en vandaar met Hr.Ms. Kortenaer naar Willemstad Curaçao. Jaar: 1929.
