Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Inside St Alphage's tower The 14th-century tower of the priory of Elsing Spital was later incorporated into the church of St Alphage on London Wall, one of several in the London area dedicated to the martyred 10th-century Archbishop of Canterbury. The church was not rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1666, but its scant remains have been preserved. Modern redevelopment has opened up this dramatic view from the high-level walkway down into the fern-filled base of the crossing tower.
