Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Inscription on the Yarrow Stone The site may already have been a place of ceremonial importance in prehistoric times, but the inscription on this stone dates from post Romano-British times in the 5th or 6th century AD when the area was part of the Kingdom of Strathclyde. The inscription is written sideways and reads "Hic Memoria Perpetva. In loco insignisimi princi pes Nvdi Dvmnogeni. Hic iacent in tumulo duo fili liberalis" which being translated reads "This is the everlasting memorial. In this place lie the most famous princes Nudoss and Dumnogenos. In this tomb lie the two sons of Liberalis".
