Description |
English: Gold posy ring A flat band, dented, the exterior with floral decoration incorporating two birds flanking a heart, with traces of white enamel for the birds, and white and green for the floral ornament. The inscription inside in lower case retains much of its original black enamel and reads: 'This and I until I dye', with partly legible unidentified maker mark, possibly SY. The motif and bids flanking a heart was popular in the 18th century and in the absence of an identifiable makers mark there is no evidence to date this ring pre-1708. |
