Summary
[edit]DescriptionInoperculate Ascus and Spores (3823904846).jpg |
Lachnellula sp. 20090808.1 Grouse Lake, Wells Gray Park, BC This was taken from a tiny orange disk fungus growing on subalpine Engelmann spruce. It's an excellent example of an inoperculate ascus (stained in Lugol's solution). Note the conspicuously thickened lateral walls and broad pore at the tip. This feature rules out the Discomycetes such as Peziza and Sarcoscypha. |
