Description
Deutsch: Kirche "hl. Nikolaus" in Innerbraz. Geschichte zur Pfarrkirche Hl. Nikolaus in Braz: Die Ortschaft Braz ist ob zahlreicher Wildbäche und Murabbrüche seit jeher Wassergefahren ausgesetzt. Das mag die Bewohner im Mittelalter dazu bewogen haben, ihre Kapelle dem Walserheiligen Nikolaus zu weihen, dem besondere Verehrung in der Abwehr von Hochwasser zukam. In dieser Funktion als „Wasserpatron“ wurde er in der Barockzeit vom hl. Johannes von Nepomuk abgelöst, den wir am Vorplatz der Kirche antreffen und welcher auch in der barocken Ausstattung mehrfach seinen Platz gefunden hat.
