Juliane Banse. Martin Helmchen Nederlands: Ooit zong Juliane Banse nog in deSingel als frêle jongedame, helemaal aan het begin van haar carrière. Ondertussen veroverde ze de hele wereld, zowel de grote operahuizen als de concertpodia. Met de jaren heeft haar warme, fluwelen timbre aan expressie bijgewonnen. Steeds vaker staat de jonge pianist Martin Helmchen haar bij. Deze Duitse wonderboy trok al op zijn elfde naar de Musikhochschule in Berlijn en won op zijn negentiende het befaamde Zwitserse 'Concours Clara Haskil'. Tussen Banse en Helmchen is het dik 'aan' - op de bühne welteverstaan. Hun programma verzoent twee werelden die nogal ver uiteen liggen: het vroegromantische Duitse lied van Schubert confronteren ze met Franse mélodies van Liszt en Koechlin. Deze laatste vreemde eend in de bijt is dringend aan herwaardering toe. Koechlin was een tijdgenoot van Ravel en Debussy en werkte jarenlang als assistent van Fauré. Hij schreef meer dan honderd liederen, waarvan de vroegste nog impressionistische trekjes vertonen. Met de mélodies van Liszt hebben ze expansieve zangmelodieën en spannende, orkestrale pianopartijen gemeen. Entre-temps, elle a conquis le monde entier, tant les grandes maisons d'opéra que les scènes de concert. Au fil des années, son timbre chaud et velouté a gagné en expression. De plus en plus, le jeune pianiste Martin Helmchen figure à ses côtés. Entré à onze ans déjà à la Musikhochschule de Berlin, à l'âge de dix-neuf ans, ce wonderboy allemand gagna le célèbre 'Concours Clara Haskil' en Suisse. Entre Banse et Helmchen, c'est l'idylle parfaite, sur scène, cela s'entend. Leur programme réconcilie deux univers assez différents: le lied allemand de Schubert du début de l'époque romantique, et les mélodies françaises de Liszt et Koechlin. Ce dernier, compositeur atypique dans ce programme, a d'urgence besoin d'être revalorisé. Koechlin était un contemporain de Ravel et Debussy; pendant des années, il travailla comme assistant de Fauré. Il composa plus de cent lieds, dont les premiers présentent encore des caractéristiques impressionnistes et qui avec les mélodies de Liszt, ont en commun d'expansives mélodies chantées et de passionnantes parties de piano, au caractère orchestral. English: Once upon a time Juliane Banse sang in deSingel at the beginning of her career when she was a mere snip of a girl. In the meantime, she has conquered the whole world, the large opera houses as well as the concert podiums. Over the years, her velvety timbre has acquired more expression. It is increasingly the young pianist Martin Helmchen who accompanies her. At the age of eleven, this German prodigy entered the Berlin Musikhochschule and at the age of nineteen won the famous Swiss Clara Haskil competition. Between Banse and Helmchen there is something in the air, but only on stage - of course. Their programme reconciles two divergent worlds: they confront the early romantic German Lieder by Schubert with the French mélodie by Liszt and Koechlin. The latter, seemingly a fish out of water, demands a reappraisal. Koechlin was a contemporary of Ravel and Debussy and for years worked as Fauré's assistant. He wrote more than a hundred songs, the earliest of which still have impressionist qualities. What these songs have in common with Liszt's melodies are expansive song lines and exciting orchestral piano parts. |
