Het oratorium ‘Il San Vito’ bijvoorbeeld, bleef 300 jaar onuitgevoerd. Terecht? Helemaal niet, bleek toen Concerto Romano het stof van de partituur blies. De muziek is levendig gevarieerd, de melodieën inventief en de harmonieën rijk. Dit religieuze verhaal klinkt even passioneel als een opera van Scarlatti. Een strenge, imponerende koning, een onverstoorbare held en een hevig verliefde passionara. Afgewezen liefde verandert in vileine haat. Alessandro Quarta begrijpt deze muziek als geen ander en injecteert ritmische souplesse in de dramatische actie. Woede, medeleven, opstandigheid en kalme berusting,… zijn zangers en orkest volgen het emotionele traject perfect. Een bescheiden ontdekking die u zal bijblijven. Pas du tout, a-t-on découvert lorsque le Concerto Romano a dépoussiéré cette partition. La musique est vivante et variée, les mélodies sont inventives et les harmonies possèdent une grande richesse. Ce récit religieux a des accents aussi passionnés qu'un opéra de Scarlatti. Un roi strict et imposant, un héros imperturbable et une femme profondément amoureuse ; l'amour refusé se transforme en haine abjecte. Alessandro Quarta comprend à fond cette musique et fait entrer la souplesse rythmique dans l'action dramatique. La colère, la compassion, la révolte et la résignation sereine… Les chanteurs et l'orchestre suivent à la perfection le parcours affectif. Une modeste découverte que vous n'oublierez pas de sitôt. Not at all, as was proven when Concerto Romano blew the dust off the score. The music is lively and varied, the melodies inventive and the harmonies rich. This religious story sounds as passionate as a Scarlatti opera. A strict, imposing king, an imperturbable hero and a violently smitten passionara. Rejected love is transformed into vicious hatred. Alessandro Quarta perfectly understands this music and injects rhythmic suppleness into the dramatic action.
