English: Maj. Thomas Weiss, (pictured right, during an interview at a Children's Festival in June) served as the executive officer for 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division in Kirkuk province. Weiss was injured in a vehicle rollover accident in July. Prior to the accident, he worked with leaders in the town of Khalkalan to help them understand the process for establishing a new school in the local area. The school was named in his honor during an opening ceremony Sept. 14. Weiss is going through rehabilitation at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and is expected to make a full recovery. |
