| Inscription | Hier stand das 1868 von Auguste Rudloff eröffnete Insel-Theater. Die Burgschauspielerin war die Frau des britischen Helgoland-Gouverneurs Maxse. Franz Dingelstedt, einer der besten Regisseure seiner Zeit, hat die Gründung des Theaters mitberaten. Der Intendant am Hof- und Nationaltheater in München, Generalintendant in Weimar und Direktor des Hofoperntheaters und später des Hofburgtheaters in Wien war sehr oft auf Helgoland. Große Beachtung erlangte das Theater durch viele Aufführungen von Mitgliedern des Wiener Burgtheaters, die während der spielfreien Zeit auf Helgoland für die Sommergäste spielten. Schauspieler wie Lotte Lehmann, Josef Kainz und Hans Albers standen auf der Insel-Bühne. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde die Theater-Tradition mit Gastspielen namhafter Theater und Schauspieler fortgesetzt. |
