Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Information panel at the "Saint Martin" church about the "Martinsplatz" (German for "Martin's sqare" = the place before the church) in Chur (Canton of the Grisons, Switzerland); The insciption on the plate is in German language and has the content:
"Saint Martin's Square. He is locating in the oldest quarter of Chur, in the middle between the Upper and Lower (town-)Gate and is a part of the historical inner-city North-South-connection therewith. This place is dominated by the church "Saint Martin". This greatest of the late-Gothic buildings in the Grisons (area) was built after the town fire of 1464 under reusing of parts of the predecessor-building from Carolingian times. The church has as special ornament since 1919 three glass windows created by the important artist Augusto Giacometti. The "Martinsbrunnen" ("Saint Martin's well") was created in 1716. His basin is decorated with diverse astrological signs. Apart from the plate-supporter and the column is the well still in the original state.".
