[edit]DescriptionIndo-European tree diagram according to Geisler and List, based upon the Dyan database.png |
English: Phylogenetic tree of Indo-European according to Geisler and List (in press), based on the Dyen database
Note: Here and in subsequent figures, boldface indicates the ten “benchmark” groupings. Intermediate nodes are marked solely for convenience of reference. Terms in quotes are not used in the conventional classification, as these nodes are not postulated in the conventional classification. The branch length and angles have no meaning. “PSIE” stands for “Proto-Surviving-Indo-European”, the ancestor of all Indo-European languages except the Anatolian and Tocharian branches, which have no surviving languages today. The diagram appeared in Pereltsvaig, Asya & Martin W. Lewis. The Indo-European Controversy. Facts and Fallacies in Historical Linguistics. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2015, Appendix. |
