Summary
[edit]DescriptionIndian jungle crow - Corvus macrorhynchos.jpg |
English: The Jungle Crow(Corvus macrorhynchos) is a very widespread Asian species of crow. They are very adaptable and are able to survive on a wide range of food sources making them capable of colonizing new areas due to which they are often considered a nuisance, especially on islands. They have a large bill and due to this they are also sometimes called large-billed Crows.
The Jungle Crow is a species of bird in the Corvidae family. It is found in Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. If there’s one corvid that’s most notorious for getting into trouble, it’s probably the jungle crow (sp: Corvus levaillantii* genus: corvus). A dubious reputation perhaps, but it’s one that’s been well earned through this corvid’s knack for exploiting humans and the opportunities we create. Physical Description: While jungle crows aren’t much bigger than an American crow, their square head and heavy bill gives them a more raven-like appearance. Range: They are found throughout the northeastern Asian seaboard to Afghanistan and eastern Iran in the west, through South and Southeast Asia, to the Lesser Sundas and Cambodia in the southeast. Although in India the jungle crow and large-billed crow behave has two distinct species, in northern parts of Asia their distinction is less clear and colloquially the two are often analogous. |
