Incomplete double oval buckle
Description
English: An incomplete medieval copper-alloy buckle. The object consists of just over half of the frame of a double oval buckle. The suggested date range is c.1350 - 1650 AD (Whitehead, R; “Buckles 1250 – 1800”; 1996; Greenlight Publishing; pp.53). The surviving side of the frame is sub-rectangular, is of semi-circular section, and is wider on the vertical outer side. The inner edge is slightly bevelled. Only a small portion of the opposite side of the frame remains and the pin is missing. The object measures 16.2mm long by 21mm high and 2.1mm thick. It weighs 2.35g.
