Title
Incomplete Roman bone needle
Description
English: Incomplete Roman bone needle. This needle is broken at the point of its eye. The head is missing, but it is just possible to see the bottom of a counter sunk rectangular eye. The shaft of the needle is circular in section and tapers to a point that has subsequently broken off at the very tip with a diagonal break, presumably in antiquity. The object is brown and the surface looks striated, but is smooth and glossy to the touch. It has a surviving length of 83.66mm, a maximum width of 4.26mm and weighs 1.81g.
