Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Incised stone, Spittal This stone can be seen in the porch of Spittal church, apparently having been placed there in the 19thC. Information in situ explains that at one time there were both Ogham and Latin inscriptions upon it but only the latter is now visible, as follows:
            EVALI FILI DENCU/CUNIOVENDE/MATER EIUS

meaning (The stone of) Evalus son of Dencus, Cuniovende his mother (set it up).

However in the Pevsner Architectural Guide to Pembrokeshire the names are translated Evali son of Denocunus, Ovende his mother.
