Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Painted funeral hatchment, above the chancel screen, in St Michael and All Angels church, Eastwell, Leicestershire, for Rowland Eyre (d.1777), Lord of the Manor, who in the mid 1700s married the Hon Mary Widdrington. The wife's coat of arms (sinister (right)) has a white background within the lozenge frame, this denotes that she was still living at the time of her husband's death, whose background is black. Arms: Argent, on a chevron sable three quatrefoils or (Eyre) impaling: Quarterly argent and gules, overall a bend sable (Widdrington, Baron Widdrington); Latin motto: Omnis Dominu Spiritus Laudet.
