Description
English: Uncredited, unsigned header for “ In the Little Traveled Caucasus, ” The St. Paul Globe, vol. 27, no. 66, 6 Mar. 1904, p. 30. Full page downloaded from Chronicling America <http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn90059523/1904-03-06/ed-1/seq-33/>, converted from JP2, cropped and lightened.

A slightly cropped version of the illustration was previously published in The [Washington, DC] Evening Star, 5 Mar. 1904.

Each of the three principal parts of the illustration has a separate caption : “ Afon, the world’s largest monastery, ” “ A representative Caucasian village ” and “ The man of the Caucasus. ”
