1985. My Renault 18 Turbo at the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune airfield near Edinburgh, Scotland. The Avro Vulcan in the distance (XM597) is one of only two which saw active service, when it attached radar installations at Port Stanley Airfield in the Falkland Islands when they were occupied by Argentine Forces in 1982. The de Havilland Comet 4C, standing behind the Vulcan (G-BDIX) was originally operated by the RAF and later by charter company Dan-Air, flying all over Europe. Also at the museum is Concorde G-BOAA. Information on East Fortune's history is here. Part of the airfield is still in use by microlight and ultralight aircraft. |
