Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Imogiri. Central Java, Indonesia. Lying a few miles south of Yogyakarta, Imogiri is the royal cemetery of the sultans of Mataram and its successor sultanates of Yogyakarta and Solo. Burials here date from the 17th through the 20th century; the first and most prominent is that of Sultan Agung, the first builder of the site, who reigned from 1613 to 1646. The monumental staircase that leads up to the mausolea is seen here.
