English: Oil painting on panel, Imaginary Meeting of Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) and Henry William Paget, 2nd Earl of Uxbridge, later 1st Marquess of Anglesey (1768-1854) after the Amputation of his Leg in 1815 by Constantin-Fidele Coene (Vilvorde 1780 - Brussels 1841), circa 1820. The 1st Marquess being comforted after the amputation of his leg, the scene shows a fictitious meeting between Wellington and Henry William shortly after his right leg had been amputated. |
