Text Appearing Before Image: ndit struck me as curious that when the Governor ot Sakapitched his tent beside that of the wealthy nomad, thelatter did not come out to welcome him. Now a collectionof tents had sprung up in the valley larger than at anyof the foregoing camps. Couriers and messengers cameand went, small yak caravans came up to the tents withprovisions for the officials, and nomads had come in from theneighbourhood to have a look at the eccentric Europeanwho had come down like a bomb into the country and hadbeen caught at last. Late in the evening Kamba Tsenam came sneakinginto my tent. He was very mysterious, and said that theGovernor and his people had no notion that he was payingme a visit in the darkness. He wished only to say thatPanchor could very well contrive that I should go almostanywhere I liked.
